Congratulations to Tom Throop, furniture designer maker and owner of Black Creek Designs on Grove Street, on being selected to exhibit his furniture at the Smithsonian Craft Show, the most prestigious juried craft exhibition in the nation. “I will have a number of pieces on display that I am very excited about, including my Laguna Credenza in walnut and koa,” Throop said. The show runs April 24 to 27 at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC.

New Canaan Police responded to one call of a motorist passing a stopped school bus in the first three months of 2025, compared to 37 in the same period one year ago, according to data shared at Wednesday’s Police Commission meeting.

New Canaan High School will host safe driving week April 21 to 25. Designed to bring attention to distracted driving from texting to driving under the influence, the week will culminate with a motor vehicle crash reenactment that will begin at a.m. on April 25 at NCHS. “We would like to extend our appreciation to the New Canaan High School staff, New Canaan Fire Department, New Canaan Emergency Medical Services, New Canaan Highway Department and New Canaan Parks and Recreation Department for their continued support to make this a success,” NCPD said.
