Donald J. Bodick, devoted husband, cherished father, and beloved friend to many, passed away peacefully at his home in New Canaan, CT, on December 24, 2024, surrounded by the family he adored. He was 77 years old.
Born in Greenwich, CT, on October 3, 1947, Don was the son of the late John T. and Carolyn (Wozny) Bodick. He lived a life defined by kindness, humor, and an unmatched zest for life.
Don graduated from Berry College in Rome, GA, in 1969 with a B.A. degree before serving honorably in the U.S. Army National Guard. He later earned his MBA from the University of Connecticut, a testament to his dedication to personal growth and lifelong learning. A retired Sales Executive in the Insurance industry for many years.
Don’s greatest joys came from time spent with his family, his Golden Retriever, Baker, and a good cigar. Whether poolside at his New Canaan home, surrounded by music and laughter, or tending to his immaculate garden, Don found beauty in every moment.
He was a man of adventure and loved escaping to his second home in Hilton Head, SC, where he could often be found on the golf course or soaking in the serenity of the beach. When the snow called, Don answered with trips to Vail, CO, where he loved skiing and enjoying the crisp mountain air.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Karen (Buckley) Bodick, and their three children: Brian Bodick (Georgina) of New Canaan, CT; Brent Bodick (Michelle) of Darien, CT; and Kimberly Bodick (Lynne) of Parker, CO. Don is also survived by his grandchildren Lexi, Brian, Brooke, Ryan and Burke. He also leaves behind his sisters, Karen Schneider and Barbara Hildebrandt, and his identical twin brother, David Bodick, who shared a bond like no other.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County for their compassionate care during Don’s final days.
A private memorial service will be held this summer, with interment at St. Mary Cemetery, 35 Parsonage Road, Greenwich, CT.
Don’s life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and the joy of shared moments. He will be deeply missed but forever celebrated by all who knew him.
RIP, Don, you are well missed already. You were a very generous and kind brother-in-law. Donna wished she could have made her delicious potato salad for you, one last time. We love you and will miss you.
