I am supporting Kimberly Norton to become New Canaan’s next First Selectman because she is the best candidate for the job! Kim has the vision, skills and personality to listen to residents. She has a history of bringing people together to get results. Unlike our current First Selectman, who spent over a year (actually more) trying to put a cell tower behind West School as our 8-30g affordable housing moratorium lapsed, Kim won’t put cell towers on Town property. She will work hard to see that the town has a strategic plan for managing our 8-30g obligations.
Kim was instrumental in stopping the 2016 attempt to put a cell tower near East School after a few moms contacted her, asking for her help. Fighting for residents and parents is something that comes naturally to Kim and she has been doing this for over a decade. She was one of founding advocates for the first ever student data privacy bill – Public Act 16-189 – passed into law in the State of CT, for all 169 towns, not just New Canaan. She also stood up for children who were affected by PCB (polychlorinated biphenyl) dust at PS199 in NYC after a window renovation where her children attended school. Kim was able to engage the EPA to set the first ever acceptable PCB exposure levels for children in the country!
As a member of Town Council, Kim has earned residents’ trust every day because she has no ties to any developers or special interests. With Kim as First Selectman, there will be no back room deals influencing her decisions. If it is not out in the open or if it doesn’t benefit the residents, then it’s out! That’s her brand of transparency.
I chose to join the Republican Party to have a voice in the Republican Caucus on July 25th after 40 years as an Unaffiliated voter. I need to make a positive difference for the Town of New Canaan. Please join me and vote for Kimberly Norton at the Republican Caucus on July 25th, Saxe Middle School, 6:30-8:30 pm. You won’t be disappointed. She is ready to lead.
