Officials on Tuesday will close Cascade Road off of Ponus Ridge as the water company finishes an emergency repair of a 42-inch water main.

The water main in need of repair runs beneath Cascade Road at a bridge on the Stamford line, according to Tiger Mann, assistant director of the New Canaan Department of Public Works.

Aquarion Water Company right now is handling the water supply in that area by emergency pumping, he said.

“Due to the nature of the repair, the road will be shut down for approximately two weeks beginning January 20th,” Mann said. “Motorists will need to utilize Davenport Ridge Road for the duration of the project for travel between New Canaan and Stamford. Detour signage will be installed to assist directing motorists.”

Residents with questions or concerns are instructed to phone the DPW at 203-594-3054. The road will be open to local traffic only.
