The following letters of appreciation for New Canaan Police officers were shared by Chief Leon Krolikowski at the Police Commission’s March and April meetings.

Officers George Caponera and Sebastian Obando
Dear Chief and John,
The Monday crew wanted to express our thanks to Officer [George] Caponera and Officer [Sebastian] Obando for their invaluable help yesterday. We had a critical patient who needed immediate care and transport to the rig and the officers initiated and assisted patient care. The officers also helped move several vehicles to allow the rig a quick egress. We were fortunate to work alongside this team yesterday and want them to know their actions were greatly valued.

Animal Control Officer Allyson Halm
Good afternoon Chief—
I just wanted to take a moment to let you know that once again [Animal Control Officer] Allyson [Halm] has done a great job on the Palmer case. I sometimes feel that only criticism is shared and not enough credit. Ofc. Halm has been promptly responsive to every request, question and direction I have thrown her way. Since the beginning of the Palmer case she has gone the extra mile not only in providing for the pups but in assisting this office at every turn and thus enabling a proper prosecution.
One not need be a lover of animals to recognize that how one treats an animal is indicative of many other things. As such, this office takes animal cruelty cases very seriously, be it for protection of people down the road or the instant protection of the most vulnerable and voiceless victims as in the Palmer case.
I know you have spoken and I have spoken of this in the past but I felt a more formal email was warranted given the extraordinary efforts of Ofc. Halm.
I hope you and yours remain healthy and well.
Best,
Suzanne M. Vieux, supervising assistant state’s attorney (March 18)

Officer Erin McCarty and Bryan Connolly
Dear Officers [Erin] MCarthy, [Bryan] Connolly,
We want to thank you for quickly coming to check our house when the neighbor called to say our front door was open. Please enjoy lunch at Tony’s on us. Gratefully,
Fred & Betsy Afragola (March 10)

Officers Geoff Lambert and Jeff Deak
Geoff/Jeff:
Thank you both for the safety presentation you held last night for some of the NCHS senior girls and their mothers. This was a last minute request from a senior mother and from what I hear you both knocked it out of the park—great job!
You both constantly show unwavering and genuine dedication to the well-being of the youth in this community which is why New Canaan Police Department’s SRO program is so successful. Thank you!
Let’s discuss how we can make a senior class safety presentation a regular event going forward.
Stay safe,
Lt. Joe Farenga (Feb. 27)
