Police last week arrested a 32-year-old Norwalk man by warrant and charged him with first-degree criminal mischief.

The warrant stems from a vandalism complaint that had come in January, according to a police report.

Under state law, a person is guilty of first-degree criminal mischief if he or she “[w]ith intent to cause damage to tangible property of another and having no reasonable ground to believe that such person has a right to do so, such person damages tangible property of another in an amount exceeding one thousand five hundred dollars,” among other reasons.

The man was taken into custody at police headquarters and arrested at 5 p.m. on April 23 and processed on the felony charge.

He was released on $25,000 bond and scheduled to appear May 7 in state Superior Court.
