Heritage Hill Road Man Parks in front of Walkway, Car Gets Keyed Twice

A 46-year-old Heritage Hill Road man told police that his car appeared to have been keyed two separate times while parked on the street.

At about 5:15 p.m. on Sept. 24, the resident reported to police that some time between Sept. 19 and 21, the passenger front door and front fender area of his VW Jetta had been keyed, and he discovered a note on the car telling him not to block a walkway when he parked, according to a police report.

Three days later, on Sept. 24, the man saw a second set of key marks on the hood of his vehicle (which he had not moved).

Police are investigating.

A 44-year-old Ponus Ridge woman told police that her home and cars were burglarized overnight last Sunday.

The woman, who lives on Ponus in the area of Adams Lane, told police that some time between 11 p.m. on Sept. 21 and 6:30 a.m. the following morning, items went missing from her home and one of her cars.

Those items included two iPad minis worth $300 apiece and Beats brand headphones worth $200, according to a police report. About $50 was taken from a wallet in one of the woman’s cars, and both vehicles were discovered with the passenger doors left open, the report said.

Sgt. Carol Ogrinc of the New Canaan Police Department said a neighbor spotted a vehicle with a hatchback around 2:30 a.m. in the area that had two people and a driver. No further details of the individuals or car were available.

The homeowner has three pre-teen and teenage kids who were at home at the time of the reported larceny, as well as her husband, Ogrinc said.

Police are investigating a 42-year-old Cedar Lane woman’s report that $1,340 had been charged to her Kohl’s card and that someone tried using her American Express card to rent at a saxophone at a Monroe music store.

The woman reported to police at 7:16 p.m. on Sept. 25 that on the prior day, someone had charged her Kohl’s card in Maryland, according to a police report. The next day, someone tried renting the instrument from Creative Music in Monroe but the card was declined, the report said. Police are investigating.
