Ticketed motorists and their spouses submitted the following appeals recently to the New Canaan Parking Commission.

“I feel I shouldn’t receive this ticket as there is no sign.”
—$30 for parking on the grass on Millport Ave., at 2:17 p.m. on April 20 (New Canaan resident)

“I tried to use my credit card in both directions and the machine would not accept it. I even asked a passerby to help me but it still didn’t work!”
—$25 for unpaid space in the Park Street Lot, at 12:44 p.m. on April 7 (Bedford, N.Y.)

“I came in to drop a check off to Vicki at Stone Techniques which is right behind the pay meter/box. The 15 min spots were full, so I parked around the back of the road (Cherry St). By the time I returned after handing Vicki the check I had a ticket. I don’t think that even had I wanted in line to pay for parking I could have made it back in time (90 seconds). I would appreciate your assistance in this situation.”
—$25 for unpaid space in Morse Court, at 12:50 p.m. on April 14 (New Canaan resident)

“It was unclear to me which side of the sign was being indicated. I did not want to block the alley entrance on the alley side so I parked in front of the ‘Antiques’ store. I am 77 years old and will not park there again.”
—$30 for loading zone on South Avenue, at 12:16 p.m. on April 21 (New Canaan resident)

“Used the spot for 10 minutes while doing business at a local restaurant. I used the back lot to keep Main Street spots available for customers. I have always paid few in the past until COVID fee change. I wasn’t aware of the change. Also no signage about reinstated fees!”
—$25 for unpaid space in Park Street Lot, at 2:22 p.m. on Feb. 8 (Monroe resident)

“I parked my car there for a few minutes to run a quick errand and I was under the impression that parking was free on the weekend. I apologize for this unintended violation on my part. I have lived in New Canaan for 14 years and have never had a parking violation until today, and I very much appreciate your consideration of my appeal.”
