Police on Monday night arrested a 73-year-old Stamford man and charged him with theft of a number plate or sticker.
At about 6:20 p.m. on July 28, officers responded to Old Stamford and Talmadge HIll Roads on a report of a single-car crash, police said.
While investigating, officers found a license plate in plain view in the trunk of the involved vehicle, according to a police report.
Police established probable cause for the misdemeanor charge, the report said.
The man was released after promising to appear Aug. 11 in state Superior Court.
