Police last week received two reports of local dogs biting servicemen conducting professional visits to New Canaan homes.

At about 9:21 p.m. on June 7, police received a report of a grill cleaner whose legs were bitten badly by a German short-haired pointer, according to a report with the Animal Control section of the New Canaan Police Department.

The Hickok road dog, a 5-year-old female, bit the cleaner multiple times in both legs, the left shin and right calf, the report said.

The man ended up in an emergency room in Stamford, with cuts too deep to stitch, the report said.

The animal is up-to-date on her shots and is under a two-week home quarantine, Animal Control said.

On June 10, two Ponus Ridge dogs bit an air conditioning repairman, police said.

It happened at about 5:22 p.m., when a boxer and coonhound mix were let out when an au pair figured the repairman had left the property, where he was fixing a condenser, Animal Control Officer Allyson Halm said.

The dogs—an 8-year-old male (boxer) and 7-year-old female (hound)—bit him in the left hamstring and right leg behind the knee, police said.

Both of those dogs are under 2-week quarantines and are up-to-date on their shots, police said.
