Men’s Club to Hear Outlook for Battery-Powered Vehicles

Leo Karl III, the president of Karl Chevrolet, will enlighten members of the New Canaan Men’s Club Friday about the future of electric vehicles in his remarks at Morrill Hall, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 111 Oenoke Ridge.
The club meets at 10 a.m. with Karl’s remarks expected to begin around 10:40 a.m.
Founded in 1927, Karl Chevrolet is in its third generation as a family business in town. Karl, an active member of various town civic organizations, has been president of the Chevrolet dealership since 1996.
He’ll discuss the auto company’s ambitious plans to have all General Motors (GM) vehicles manufactured to be battery powered by 2035. He notes that GM manufactured the first mass-produced, and purpose-designed electric vehicle between 1996 and 1999, the EV1.
Karl serves on the board of the Waveny LifeCare Network and the New Canaan Community Foundation. Hie is also a member and past president of the Rotary Club of New Canaan. He received his bachelor’s degree from Sacred Heart University.
