  1. Since his very first day on the job here in New Canaan Fred has been an absolute treasure to work with. He has been a contributor to so many aspects of New Canaan’s community life, and especially during his time as president of our Rotary Club. I hope he continues to contribute his unique vehicle to the Caffeine and Carburetors events each year with his ancient John Deere tractor.

  2. Fred, we will miss you, but hope you will enjoy the days ahead. You have certainly earned this opportunity to do the things you want to do and be with family and your new grandchild. I just hope you will visit us occasionally! All the best to you.
Thank you for all you have done for New Canaan and to educate and support our safety!!

  4. My folks just told me that Mr. Baker had retired so this post is a little late. In Redding, he was the scoutmaster of our Boy Scout troop and was a great coach and leader for a generation of young people. I know he had a true and positive impact on my upbringing and those of many others. Happy Retirement.

  5. I had the pleasure of learning from and working with Fred Baker when I worked at Roger Ferris Architects in Westport. All the Architects at the firm respected Fred as being the most knowledgeable officer in building codes, handicap access rules and other life safety issues. No matter who you ran into, they would say they just came back from a building code class or presentation where Fred was an attendee or the leader. When he saw we did our homework upfront on codes for projects, and was honest with him about issues we found, Fred would advise us of some innovative ways to solve the issues. And still keep our design intent. I learned a lot. We learned a lot. He is a great teacher, funny and mindful. We all wish him the absolute best at his retirement and being a Grandfather.
