New Canaan Man, 23, Charged in Domestic Incident

Police late Tuesday arrested a 23-year-old New Canaan man and charged him with fourth-degree criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and interfering with an officer.

At about 10:50 p.m. on April 21, officers were dispatched to a Dogwood Lane home on a report of a domestic dispute between the man and another occupant of the residence, police said.

There, police conducted an investigation that resulted in misdemeanor charges.

It isn’t clear what the dispute involved, whether or how the victim is related to the arrested man or whether the dispute turned physical. It also isn’t clear 

Police withheld details, saying it was a domestic matter.

Under state law, a person is guilty of fourth-degree criminal mischief if he or she “damages, tampers with or removes any tangible property owned by the state or a municipality,” including those used for “police alarm” purposes.

Police held the man on $2,300 bond and scheduled him to appear Wednesday in state Superior Court.
