Police on Sunday arrested a 24-year-old Weed Street man for drunk driving following a single-car crash in town.
At about 9:15 p.m. on Sept. 11, officers responded to a loud crash at Weed Street and West Road, according to a police report.
An investigation revealed that a car had struck a traffic island there and became disabled, the report said. Officers spoke to the driver and suspected him of being under the influence of alcohol, it said. He failed field sobriety tests and a subsequent breath test showed that his blood-alcohol level was .15, nearly twice the legal limit, police said.
The driver was released on $250 bond and scheduled to appear Sept. 21 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
