Police on Wednesday arrested a 19-year-old New Canaan man by warrant and charged him with second-degree forgery and second-degree failure to appear.

Officers found a fraudulent driver’s license in the teen’s wallet while processing him on a separate rearrest warrant at police headquarters, officials said.

According to Connecticut Judicial Branch records, the White Birch Road teen had been charged by New Canaan Police in January 2021 with illegal operation of a motor vehicle while under suspension.

A paperless re-arrest warrant was issued for him on the charge, and he turned himself in to police at about 10:57 a.m. on Jan. 12, according to a police report.

While processing him in the booking area at headquarters, officers found the fake Connecticut license.

He was released on $3,000 bond and scheduled to appear Jan. 26 in state Superior Court.
