Police last week arrested a 65-year-old New Canaan man and charged him with disorderly conduct and second-degree threatening.
At about 9:51 p.m. on April 3, officers responded to an Old Kings Highway home on a report of a dispute between the man and the victim, police said.
Through an investigation, officers established probable cause and arrested the man on both charges, according to a police report.
Under state law, a person is guilty of second-degree threatening if he or she “[b]y physical threat … intentionally places or attempts to place another person in fear of imminent serious physical injury” or “such person threatens to commit any crime of violence with the intent to terrorize another person,” among other reasons.
Police withheld details of the incident, saying it’s a domestic matter. They transported the man to police headquarters for processing—he appeared to give the middle finger to his mugshot photographer—then kept him there overnight for an appearance the following morning, April 4, in state Superior Court in Stamford.
