Alessandro Recchia, 91

April 17, 1931 – April 4, 2023
Alessandro Recchia, 91, of New Canaan, CT passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, just 13 days shy of his 92nd birthday. Alex was born in Veroli, Italy to Emilio Recchia and Angela Fiorini. His father died young and as the oldest male sibling he was tasked to help his mother raise their family of 8 children during the starving years of WWII. He later married his beloved, beautiful Anna in 1957 and moved to Settefrati where they began raising their family. Times were still very hard then.

Maria Dantini, 85

Maria Dantini, 85, of New Canaan, Ct. passed away on April 1st, 2023 during recovery from emergency surgery a month prior.  

Maria was born on April 13, 1937, to Maria and Luigi Casatelli, in Ausonia, Italy. She went to the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Piano with the nuns from primary to the end of high school. She was one of six siblings; Guiseppina (d), Pasquale (d), Palmino (d), Elvio (d), Marcello.

Joseph Michael Pascarella, 71

Joseph Michael Pascarella, age 71, of New Canaan, CT, died peacefully on March 21, 2023, with his loving family by his side. Joseph was born on July 10, 1951, in Stamford, CT, to the late Michael Joseph and Irene (Balogh) Pascarella. He was the loving husband of Noel (Bellantoni) Pascarella of New Canaan for nearly 46 years. Joe was a member of the New Canaan Fire Company for over fifty years and served two terms as president. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council in New Canaan and served as Grand Knight.

Gerald E. Bisbee Jr., 80

Gerald (Gary) E. Bisbee Jr., 80, of New Canaan, CT, passed away on March 10, 2023, with his family by his side. He was born on July 12, 1942, in Waterloo, Iowa, to the late Gerald and Maxine Bisbee. In 1970, he married Linda Ude and together they shared an academic journey, earning Gary an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School and a PhD from Yale University.  Healthcare became his area of expertise. Gary’s career included faculty positions at Yale and Northwestern universities and leadership roles at a number of healthcare companies. He co-founded APACHE Medical Systems, and served on the board of the Cerner Corporation for over 30 years.

Benjamin Fine, 74

Benjamin Fine, longtime Stamford resident and Fairfield University professor, died March 11 at his home. He was 74. Born in New York City on Oct. 12, 1948, he was the son of Reuben and Sonya LeBeoux Fine. Kind-hearted, gregarious and funny, Ben was a great storyteller who was always there for friends and family.
