Maude Marie Morley, 92

Maude Marie Morley passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021. She was 92. Born on September 16, 1929 in Regina, Saskatchewan, she was the only daughter of the late Edward and Charlotte Kern. Marie grew up in Regina, Saskatoon, and Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada. Her fondest memories were the large family gatherings at her grandparents’ home. 

She went to university in Toronto where she met her former husband H. Barclay Morley.  A devoted mother and grandmother, her family was everything to her. 

A long-time resident of Stamford, she moved to New Canaan in 1997 until March 2019 when she moved to Atria in Darien.  Marie was a former member of the Country Club of Darien and Nutmeg Curling Club.

Ann Badger Fuller, 89

Ann Badger Fuller, a devoted and adored wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died with a granddaughter by her side on December 22nd, a month shy of her 90th birthday.  She lived a full, wonderful life and was notable for her graciousness, kindness, humor and intelligence. Ann was born and raised in Portsmouth New Hampshire in 1932, the younger daughter of Paul Combs Badger and Marian Abbie Mansfield Badger.  She was a descendant of such New England notables as Giles Badger, Tristram Coffin and Edward Doty. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire Cum Laude and was a member of the National Honor Society, Phi Beta Kappa and the honor society of Phi Beta Phi. In Boston after graduation, Ann met and married Alan Clarke Fuller (Pete) in 1955 while Pete was a student at Harvard Business School. Upon his graduation, they moved to Stamford, Connecticut for one year and then to New Canaan where she lived for the past 65 years.

Mario Socci Sr., 85

Mario Socci passed away peacefully on December 27th, 2021 at the age of 85 at The Long Ridge Acute Care in Stamford, CT. 

Mario was born in Settefrati Italy on March 3rd 1936 to Guiseppe and Gaetana Socci. Mario came to America in 1954 and he worked as a laborer in New York City and later worked for the City of Stamford for 32 years. He had a landscaping business that he and his sons worked together for many years which he always took great pride in. 

He was survived by his beloved wife Margaret Socci of 62 years and his four children. His daughter Marlene Socci-Tiani and her husband Fredrick Tiani Jr of New Canaan, CT, Joseph Socci of Stamford, CT, Mario Socci Jr and his wife Dawn of Redding, CT, and Anthony Socci of Seymour, CT. And he also leaves behind four grandchildren, Fredrick Tiani III of New Canaan, CT, Ginamarie and her husband Alex Golan of Darien, CT, Christopher and Matthew Socci of Redding, CT.

Claudia Monaco, 43

Claudia (Palladino) Monaco, 43, of New Canaan, CT passed away peacefully on December 16, 2021 at her home with her loving family by her side.  Claudia was born on October 14, 1978 in Norwalk, CT to Amalia (Casole) Palladino and the late Lorenzo Palladino. Claudia received her undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut and her master’s in education from Sacred Heart University. She was an avid parishioner of St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan where she taught religious education. She loved spending time with her family and friends.

John F. Toner, 95

John F. Toner passed away surrounded by family and friends on December 14, 2021 in New Canaan, CT after a brief illness following a hip fracture.  

Jack was born September 25, 1926 in Providence, Rhode Island to Edward and Florence Toner.  He grew up in Elmhurst, NY and attended Brooklyn Prep where he formed lifelong friendships with James and Neill McAllister.  They set him up on blind date in 9th grade with their cousin Marjorie and 60 years later she became his second wife. He served with the US Navy during WWII in the South Pacific attached to the Seabees where they recognized that his talents lay in connecting with people and put him in charge of morale rather than construction. When discharged in July 1946, he enrolled at Mount St Mary’s in Emmittsburg, MD.  Upon graduation in 1950 with a BA in Economics, he worked in sales for Dan River Manufacturing in St Louis, MO. He then joined the Cleveland office of Avondale Mills where he formed lifelong friendships with his Shaker Heights roommates.
