Lucille Wordell McCabe, 95

Lucille Wordell McCabe, mother of eight children in New Canaan, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 22, 2021 at the age of 95 at her home in New Canaan. Lucille was the daughter of Albert Louis Wordell and Hedwig “Hattie” Kist Wordell from Milwaukee Wisconsin. Lucille is survived by her eight Children: William Robert McCabe of Minneapolis, MN; Joseph Albert McCabe of New Canaan, CT; Thomas Francis (Joyce) McCabe of Darien, CT; John Paul (Susan) McCabe of Harwich Port, MA; Mary Gertrude McCabe of Monroe, CT; Patrick Michael (Kathleen) McCabe of Farmington, CT; James Andrew McCabe of La Quinta, CA; and Daniel Edward (Lory) McCabe of Wilton,

CT. Lucille is predeceased by her husband William (Bill) Joseph McCabe to whom she was married to for 68 years before his death on January 30th 2016. Lucille has 20 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren.

Toni Recchia Allende, 61

Toni Recchia Allende, 61, of Vista, NY passed away peacefully with family at her side on January 6, 2021 after a heroic two-and-a-half-year battle with glioblastoma multiforme, a highly aggressive brain cancer. She was a courageous fighter who far outlived her diagnosis. Formerly of New Canaan, CT, Toni was born September 28, 1959 in Settefrati, Italy. She immigrated to the United States with her family in 1965 where they settled in New Canaan. Toni attended East School and was a 1978 graduate of New Canaan High School. In addition to working full time and raising her family, she studied marketing and economics at Norwalk Community College. Before her illness, Toni enjoyed a successful career in publishing and was a highly accomplished, multi-faceted leader, recognized for her keen business insights and her unbelievable energy, focus and drive. Generous, kind and unselfish, the feelings and needs of others were always first on Toni’s mind. She had a wonderful way of bringing out the best in others. She would always enter a room with her beautiful dimple smile and immediately transformed the atmosphere.

Betty (Paglialunga) Geriak, 60

Betty (Paglialunga), Geriak, 60, formerly of New Canaan, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Betty was born on September 24, 1960 in Norwalk, CT to the late Louis and Anna Paglialunga. Betty grew up in New Canaan, the youngest of eight children. She attended New Canaan Schools and danced for Walter Schalk. When Betty was a sophomore in high school she moved to Norwalk and lived with Chi Chi and Danny Futi.

Rupert FitzAllan Chisholm III, 51

Rupert FitzAllan Chisholm III, extraordinary husband and father, passed away on January 5th after an almost 8 year valiant and continuous fight against cancer. Rupert was born on March 13, 1969 in Brussels, Belgium to Rupert F. and Kathleen Slagel Chisholm.  Rupert spent most of his childhood in central Pennsylvania.  He graduated from Washington and Lee University in 1991 where he played football and went on to get a Master’s degree at the University of Rochester. Rupert made his way to New York City and started his career as a journalist including time as a writer for the Wall Street Journal.  While in New York he met and married his wife, Kiki.  He went on to a career in finance working for Moody’s Investors Service and Lehman Brothers for many years which brought his family to London for a time. He settled back in New Canaan where he has lived since 2009 while continuing to work in finance at One William Street Capital in New York City.  While Rupe loved his work, nothing took priority over his family. His love for his boys Charlie and Miles and for his wife Kiki was boundless.

George H. Megrue, 84

George H. Megrue, age 84, passed away at home on December 27, 2020, in New Canaan, CT. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Suzanne J. Megrue of New Canaan, his son and daughter-in-law George R. and Kathleen Megrue of Milford, CT and daughters, Katherine Megrue-Smith and her husband Allen of New Canaan and Karen Megrue Feringa and her husband Dave of Basking Ridge, NJ and his brother John F. Megrue of Dataw Island, SC. He was predeceased by his son, Kevin and his mother, Mildred K. Baehr. He was very proud of his 14 grandchildren and one great grandson. George graduated from Amherst College in 1957 and received an MA in 1960 and a PhD in 1962 in Geology from Columbia University. His education continued as a postdoctoral student and Junior Research Scientist in the Chemistry Department of Brookhaven National Laboratory. He pioneered the development of laser mass spectrometry and received a patent for the development of this apparatus in 1971. His system and technique enabled him to be a Principal Investigator for NASA to analyze soil and rock samples returned from the Apollo 12, 14 and 15 lunar landing missions.
