Disorderly Charge for New Canaan Man, 21

Police late on Easter Sunday arrested a 21-year-old New Canaan man and charged him with disorderly conduct.

At about 11:46 p.m. on April 9, officers responded to a Field Crest Road home on a report of dispute between the man and the victim, police said.

Following an investigation, police charged him with the misdemeanor offense.

It wasn’t clear what the dispute involved, whether it turned physical or whether the victim is related to the arrested man. Police withheld details, saying it’s a domestic matter.

Under state law, a person is guilty of disorderly conduct when he or she, “with intent to cause inconvenience, annoyance or alarm, engages in fighting or in violent, tumultuous or threatening behavior; or by offensive or disorderly conduct, annoys or interferes with another person,” among other reasons.

Police released the man after he promised to appear Monday in state Superior Court.
