After only two practices together, the brand-new team of New Canaan 7- and 8 -year-olds competed in their first ever travel soccer games and confidently defeated three of four opponents at the Fairfield Fast 2014 Labor Day Tournament on Sunday August 31, 2014.
In their first game, an exciting match against a Fairfield United team, they were behind by one after just a few minutes of play. But the team relaxed into the game and responded with three unanswered goals in a row, finishing with a 5-3 victory.
They had a disappointing defeat against Darien in their second game, but came back in the afternoon to defeat two more Fairfield United teams 4-0 and 6-2.
Overall, the tournament was a fantastic start to the season for this young team representing New Canaan Soccer Association for the first time.
