Police arrested by warrant a 26-year-old Seymour man who in July was caught on video surveillance pocketing another customer’s wallet at Dunkin Donuts on Elm Street.
At about 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 2, the Seymour man turned himself in on the warrant and was charged with sixth-degree larceny. He’s accused of lifting a wallet that had been set down at the country by a 55-year-old New Canaan man just after 7 a.m. on July 15 (a Tuesday). The town resident had put his wallet down at the counter and later realized where he must have left it, police have said.
The arrested man paid for his own goods at the coffee shop with a credit card, Sgt. Peter Condos said.
Inside the wallet were a number of credit cards that the Seymour man never tried to use, as well as about $120, which he spent, police said.
He was released on $120 bond and scheduled to appear Sept. 16 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
