A 5-year-old Labrador retriever is under strict 45-day home confinement after a coyote bit him in the leg last week, officials say.
It happened on a Turtleback Road South property around 7:30 a.m. last Friday, Oct. 23, according to Officer Allyson Halm, head of the New Canaan Police Department’s Animal Control section.
It isn’t clear just which animal instigated the confrontation, as the dog’s owner didn’t see it happen, but heard her dog yelp and then saw the coyote, Halm said.
The Lab, which is neutered, was automatically given a booster for rabies, confined to his home and is being monitored by his family, Halm said.
