Municipal officials on Tuesday approved the 2026 season for what has rapidly grown into a downtown tradition in New Canaan.

The New Canaan Farmers Market will run 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays in the Lumberyard Lot next to the train station from April 11 to Dec. 19, following a unanimous vote by the Board of Selectmen.

“The Farmers Market has been a nice addition,” Selectman Steve Karl said during the elected body’s regular meeting, held at Town Hall and via videoconference.

He continued: “It’s become a Saturday morning tradition in town and it attracts a lot of folks over there. Traffic has been flowing in and out of  there fine. It’s a nice addition to town. I really think people enjoy going and I’ve had only good feedback.”

Karl, First Selectman Dionna Carlson and Amy Murphy Carroll voted 3-0 in favor of the municipal lot’s use for the popular market, whose vendors in 2025 included The Bee Love Project, Gazy Brothers Farm, New Petal Flower Farm, Seacoast Mushrooms, Bongo & Capacci Gourmet Pasta, Edgewise Kitchen and Grumpy Dumpling.

Formerly held in the Center School Lot, Market Master Lexi Gazy said the Farmers Market has been operating out the Lumberyard since 2021 and “we’re happy to be in our new location.”

“Not so new anymore,” Gazy added. “I think the only thing we’re missing is the trees.”

The only Saturday this summer that the Farmers Market may not run is in late-June when there’s a town event, officials said.
