Elizabeth Ann Borgman, 54

On Saturday, November 26th, 2022, Elizabeth Borgman, beloved sister, aunt, daughter, and friend passed away from cancer. She was fifty-four. Born on January 22, 1968, in Bogotá, Colombia, Elizabeth was adopted by Daniel and June Borgman in Stamford, CT in 1973. At New Canaan High School Elizabeth excelled in field hockey and track and still holds a record in the latter. After graduating from high school Elizabeth attended Western Connecticut University where she earned an LPN degree.

Dr. Robert B. McGan, 89

Dr. Robert B. McGan, 89, passed away December 4, 2022, in New Canaan, Connecticut. 

A native of Albany, NY, he was born April 24, 1933, to Dr. Harold Patrick and Dr. Beatrice (Belser) McGan. He graduated high school from Albany’s Vincentian Institute followed by Georgetown University. In 1956 he returned to his hometown to attend Albany Medical College where he was President of the medical fraternity Nu Sigma Nu.  Dr. McGan was born into a family of physicians. His mother, father, and uncle were all doctors, and he, in turn, became one himself. This was not simply to follow in his parents’ footsteps; this was the guiding light that truly defined him.

Anthony Di Feo, 86

Anthony Di Feo, 86 a longtime prominent resident of New Canaan, CT, died peacefully in his home on Friday January 6, 2023. Born in San Mango Sul Calore Italy on August 25, 1936, he was the son of the late Carmine and Angelina Borea Di Feo. He is survived by his beloved sister Carmelinda, his uncle Ermenegildo Borea, his aunt Carmela Borea and several cousins. Anthony came to the United States from Italy in 1956; he became a hairdresser and owned Anthony’s Salon in New Canaan along with his sister Carmelinda for 57 years. Anthony loved his family, loved his job and he was well respected in the community.

Audrey Clarke Fleischmann, 96

Audrey Clarke Fleischmann, age 96, passed from this life on January 6, 2023 in Waveny Care Center. She was a resident of New Canaan for more than 40 years. Audrey was the loved and loving mother of five children, grandmother of thirteen grandchildren, and great grandmother of six great grandchildren. Audrey was born in New York City on October 18, 1926. She was the daughter of Robert and Ivy Lewis Clarke.

Michael J. Panella, 81

Michael J. Panella, 81 of Norwalk, died on January 1, 2023 at Waveny Care Center in New Canaan. 

Born in Norwalk, the son of James and Mary (Barati) Panella, he had worked for Stop & Shop. Michael was an accomplished trumpet player, and had played in the New Canaan Town Band since 1960. He is survived by his daughter Jamie Mollo and her husband Kevin, two  grandsons, Kane and Syrus, and Diana Serrano whom he loved like a second daughter, his sister Mary Jane Ungvary and her husband John, as well as Jamie’s mother and Michael’s friend, Deidre Leigh Panella. His family will receive friends from 5-7 PM, with a service to begin at 6:45PM, on Friday January 6, at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk.
