Lawrence Luizzi, 79

On Sunday April 19th, 2020, Lawrence (Larry) Luizzi passed into eternal life at the age of 79. Larry was raised by his late grandparents Lawrence Luizzi and Elizabeth Luizzi in Hoboken, New Jersey. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Stevens College, and a master’s degree in business from Western Connecticut State University. Larry spent his entire career working for General Foods, beginning with Maxwell House in Hoboken and retiring as the Director of Logistics and Information Technology in White Plains, NY. An early programmer, he often came home with pockets full of “punched cards” that he had used to upload code throughout the day.

Dorothy V. Ready, 85

Dorothy Viola (Mann) Ready of Southbury, CT and former longtime resident of New Canaan, died peacefully April 9, 2020 at the Lutheran Home in Southbury at the age of 85. Dorothy was the wife of Eugene F. Ready, former Chief of Detectives with the New Canaan Police Department. She was born in Mt. Vernon, NY on July 6, 1934, the daughter of the late Frederick and Mary Poczak Mann. Dorothy met her husband while working for General Foods in White Plains, New York.

Louis, 10, Leader of the Pack

Louis, our beloved shepherd mix, died peacefully at home March 31 following a cancer diagnosis. He was 10. In addition to his parents, he is survived by brothers Marvin and Dexter. He was predeceased by Wilbur and Russell. Born around August 2009 and rescued in Lynchburg, Va., he came to us within weeks of buying our house in Stamford.

Gerald Allan Rubinfeld, 77

February 7, 1943 – April 4, 2020

Gerry Rubinfeld, longtime resident of New Canaan, passed away peacefully in the serene care of the Regional Hospice in Danbury. He is survived by his wife of fifty two years, Laura; his three daughters, Emilie, Jenny and Claire; his five granddaughters, Madeline, Alexandra, Whitney, Eleanor and Chloe; his son’s in-law Erik and Mike; and his brother and sister, Michael and Lori. Gerry was born in New York, attended Brooklyn Tech, Queens College, St. John’s Law School and Baruch College where he received his MBA. He spent his career in the textile industry at companies including Hoechst Fibers, Celanese, Dillon Yarn and Texfi Industries where he served as President.

Peter Michael Santella, 87

Peter Michael Santella, 87, of New Canaan, CT passed away on March 19, 2020 with his loving family by his side. Peter was born on July 31, 1932 in the Bronx, NY to the late Joseph and Fannie Vitti Santelle. Peter was educated at Darien High School. From there he volunteered for the United States Marine Corps and was a combat veteran of the Korean War. Peter was fiercely proud to be part of the Corps, whose core values of honor, courage and commitment drove him his whole life through. 

Upon his return from Korea, with just a toolbox and a truck, he founded the Peter M. Santella Company.
