New Canaan Police at 7:56 a.m. on April 5 received a report of a car with its keys inside stolen overnight from an Autumn Lane home. The vehicle later was recovered in New Haven, police said. Authorities have no suspects in the theft.

A rabies test on a raccoon killed April 5 by two dogs on Myanos Road came back negative this week, according to the NCPD’s Animal Control section.

New Canaan Police at 6:01 p.m. Sunday received a report of the passenger side window smashed on a vehicle parked at Mead Park, with credit cards stolen. ***

New Canaan Police at 2:12 p.m. Tuesday arrested an individual on an active arrest warrant out of Trumbull after making a motor vehicle stop at Seminary Street and Oenoke Lane, and charged the person with failure to appear. ***

The New Canaan Land Trust is reaching an agreement with the First Taxing District of Norwalk to purchase an antique house at 1124 Valley Road as well as one acre of property that will connect to the nonprofit organization’s Browne Preserve, First Selectman Kevin Moynihan said during an update at Thursday night’s Town Council meeting. The red-painted house will function as the Land Trust’s headquarters, he said. The property had made headlines throughout 2018 when its owners applied for a permit to demolish the antique house when it failed to sell. The town, preservationists and representatives from the Land Trust worked together to stave off demolition, in part, by offering to purchase the house.

New Canaan Police at 3:06 p.m. on March 17 received a report of a bicycle stolen from a Maple Street home. ***

Congratulations to Steph Benko, who ran the NYC Half Marathon on Sunday in a time of 1:18:47. She finished 18th in the women’s division, beating out some of the professional runners. Steph placed 190th overall—there were 24,717 total runners. (“Cleary, she had an angel cheering her on,” proud mom Sue Benko said.)
